Reef Check Safari South Egypt 11.-18. November 2010
On 11 November eight enthusiastic divers boarded the Ghazala Voyager to participate in the first Reef Check Safari in Southern Egypt.
With the help of the new Reef Check Underwater-Fieldguide indicator fish, invertebrates and substrate types could be easily identified. Some manta rays and a turtle distracted the volunteer scientists for a few minutes from the surveys.
In addition to Reef Check dives also fund-dives were on the programme, but not without looking for signs of coral diseases and indicator species. On some dive sites we spotted bleached corals and other signs of stress.
Thanks to Sinai Divers for their support, to our guide Mohamed and the crew of the Ghazala Voyager and a special thanks to all participants!
