Since the fall of 2006, Reef Check (RC) has offered two new Specialties in the Eco-Action Program: "Discover Reef Check" and "Reef Check EcoDiver". Both specialties provide you with the most important aspects of the Reef Check methods, the threat to and the state of coral reefs worldwide, and the possible environmental protection actions. These classes are from ½ a day to 3 days and are taught by certified divemasters and dive instructors to interested sport-divers. In order to teach the courses, all dive instructors and divemasters have received training and certification from a Reef Check Course Director (instructor-trainer).
"Discover Reef Check" – The Course:The following subjects are included in this half-day introductory course:
"Reef Check Eco-Diver" – The Course:For more advanced study, the Eco-Diver Course is a 3-day specialty course with practical experience during survey dives. This course goes beyond the content of the “Discover Reef Check” course and includes familiarizing the students with the indicator species of fish, coral, and invertebrates.
"Training-the-Trainers" – The CourseFor diving professionals, Reef Check offers the “Train-the-Trainer course. Successful completion of the course provides a certification allowing the trainer to conduct independent Reef Check EcoAction courses.
